WOMEN IN VOICE
A series to amplify more women developers across our developer-facing channels and to support broader Alexa Everywhere DEI initiatives.
Alexa Skills Kit developer marketing launched the first Women of Voice campaign on International Women’s Day (IWD) in collaboration with PR and Alexa Voice Service. The campaign included a series of profiles featuring 9 women developers in our community, which were released on the Alexa developer blog over four weeks leading up to IWD. On IWD, Alexa released a blog roundup, a new landing page on the developer portal, and a special edition of the Alexa developer newsletter with Women of Voice as the lead story.
As the UI/UX designer, I led the branding, visual storytelling and created the landing page for the WIV initiative, including:
Defining the Visual Elements: I defined the core visual elements, color palettes, typography, iconography, imagery, and grid systems that reflected the over WIV brand's identity in order to resonate with the target audience.
Creating Design Standards: I established design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency across all digital touch points. This included setting rules for spacing, alignment, and the use of components. Built a component library to maintain reusable UI elements, such as buttons, forms, and navigation components, to ensure they align with the overall style guide.
Collaboration & Communication with Stakeholders: Worked closely with developers, content creators, and other team members to ensure that the design was implemented accurately and effectively. Communicated with stakeholders to provide updates, gather feedback, and ensure launch aligned with its goals.
Launch: Supported launch of the site to ensure a smooth transition from development to live site. Monitored post-launch to gather user feedback, analyze data, and make adjustments to improve user experience and engagement.
